Rated 5 out of 5 stars.5-star trusted steel building company
What is a indoor sports steel building?
Indoor sports buildings are tall clear-span steel structures sized by playing surface and required clear height: typically 24' to 35' clear for basketball, volleyball, batting cages and turf. Column-free space means court and field layouts are set by the program, and the frame carries the collateral load of nets, scoreboards, lighting and HVAC.
What drives the price
Clear height, hung collateral loads and the insulation and HVAC package drive sports-facility pricing. Mezzanine viewing areas and locker or concession build-out are the other big line items.

FAQ
Indoor Sports questions
- How many pickleball courts fit?
- Roughly one court per 2,000 sq ft including run-off and circulation — a 100' x 200' building typically holds eight.
- What ceiling height do courts need?
- Pickleball wants 20' clear minimum, volleyball and basketball 24' to 30'. We measure to the bottom of the lowest member.
- Can we add a mezzanine for viewing?
- Yes, framed into the building with stairs, guardrail, and the live load your occupancy requires.
- How do you control echo?
- Insulation with a fabric or perforated liner, plus baffle hangers engineered into the purlin loading.
- What clear height do I need for volleyball or basketball?
- Plan on a minimum of 24 feet clear for recreational play and 30 feet or more for competitive volleyball and tournament basketball.
- Can nets and dividers hang from the structure?
- Yes, when we know the loads up front. Divider curtains, batting cages and scoreboards are carried as collateral load in the frame design.
